The key visual and exhibition graphics were designed for the exhibition Digging Soundtrack: Korean Film Music on LP, Cassette, and CD, held at the Korean Film Museum of the Korean Film Archive. The exhibition allows visitors to handle LPs, cassette tapes, and CDs, and to listen to film music using turntables and players.
The visual identity began with the act of flipping through LP records in a digging crate. The design attempts to translate the experience of scanning a stack of records from top to bottom. To evoke this sensation, a typographic rule was established that gives the impression of viewing the square form of an LP from above.
Circular graphic elements reminiscent of record labels were also introduced so that the LP could be immediately recognized as an object. Together, these elements form a key visual system that subtly yet directly references the material presence of vinyl records.
