The catalogue The Beams was designed for artist Minhoon Kim, bringing together photographs and texts from two of the artist’s solo exhibitions. The publication combines the two exhibitions into a single volume.
   The title The Beams informed the use of a tall, vertical format and a hardcover binding. The catalogue includes several texts, with particular attention given to a series of letters exchanged between Hasang Hyun in Seoul and Minhoon Kim near Las Vegas. Some page layouts are rotated by 90 degrees so that readers experience the act of reading the letters more directly. Subtle devices loosely referencing the idea of pillars are also embedded throughout the book.
